An escaped prisoner who absconded from a Lancashire prison is being hunted by police.

Lee Moran, 34, left HMP Kirkham at 8am on August 7 on a day release programme but failed to return that evening.

He was due to undertake a work placement in Lytham as part of his sentence for robbery and wounding, handed down by Bolton Crown Court in 2007.

Moran is described as 5ft 10in and of medium build. He has brown eyes and short, cropped or shaved brown hair.

Police do not know what he was wearing when he absconded.

PC Mark Stringer said, “I would appeal to anyone who knows where Lee Moran is to come forward and contact the police immediately.

“We do not consider Moran is a risk to the general public but we are nevertheless very keen to trace him and return him to prison to serve the remainder of his sentence.

“Although he could still be in Lancashire, there is a possibility he may travelled back to the Greater Manchester area and so we would ask the public to be vigilant and report any sightings to the police - any details the public may have could be crucial.”

Anyone with any information is asked to inform police either in person, by calling 101 or anonymously by phoning Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
