Police appeal for '˜wanted' man to hand himself in

Police have urged a Blackpool man, wanted in connection with an alleged assault, to hand himself in.

Officers want to find Dale Docherty, 22, of Bowland Crescent, Grange Park, following the incident earlier this month wchih left a man with a serious head injury.

The 36-year-old victim was allegedly attacked inside a property on Withnell Road, South Shore at around 8.30am on October 15,.

Following enquiries, police want to trace Docherty.

He is described as white, 6ft 4in tall, of medium build. He is believed to be wearing a cast on one of his arms and has links to the Blackpool and Manchester areas.

Detectives are warning people not to approach him and urging anyone with information come forward.

Det Con Steve Talbott, of Blackpool CID, said: “Docherty is wanted in connection with a serious assault which has left a man very poorly in hospital.

“I would advise anyone who sees him not to approach him but to contact the police immediately.

“Likewise, if Docherty sees the appeal, I would urge him to hand himself in.
