Police have launched an appeal for information after a bar fight left two men needing hospital treatment.

Officers were called to the Flagship Bar at Coral Island around midnight on Saturday after reports of an incident.

A 26-year-old man and a 27-year-old man, both from Wigan, suffered injuries to their head, hands and arms, with a 23-year-old man from Huddersfield arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

Det Sgt Mark Dickinson of Blackpool police said: “We had a distrubance in the bar. We believe that a glass bottle was used as a weapon.

“There are two males, both from the Wigan area, who have suffered cuts to their heads, arms and hands.

“Both required hospital treatment. We have arrested a 23-year-old male from Huddersfield. We are progressing CCTV and forensic enquiries.

“We would be very keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident.

“It is a confrontation that has got out of hand involving two groups of males, with a weapon being used which has caused significant injury.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call the non-emergency police number 101 quoting the incident number LC-20150531-0002.
