HEARTLESS pickpockets targeted an elderly shopper and escaped with £2,000.
Police today appealed for information after a 79-year-old woman had her purse stolen in Cleveleys.
Police today released CCTV pictures of two men they want to speak to in connection with the theft between 12.15pm and 12.45pm on Thursday, September 22.
The victim, who is from Fleetwood, was shopping in the Morrisons store on Amounderness Way when she was approached on a number of occasions by a man.
When she arrived at the checkout to pay for her groceries she realised her purse was missing.
Staff at the store helped the lady cancel her banks cards, however, two of her cards had already been used in the cash machine outside to withdraw a total of £500 and also used at Argos in Blackpool to buy £1,500 worth of computer equipment.
Police have now released CCTV images of two men they would like to speak to urgently in connection with the incident.
PC Emma McClaren, community beat manager for Cleveleys, said: “This incident has left the woman very distressed and she is suffering not only emotionally, but financially too.
“If anybody recognises either of the men captured on CCTV then I would ask them to contact police straight away.”
One of the thieves is described as white, with short light brown untidy hair and wearing a blue anorak.
