Police are appealing for help after an 85-year-old woman was targeted by “despicable” thieves while she was out shopping.
The woman, from Knott End, was doing her weekly shop in Morrisons at Amounderness Way in Cleveleys, when her purse was stolen.
Her bank card was used to withdraw a sum of £250 from a cash point machine within the store, before being used to buy £2,400 of goods at Argos and Morrisons at the Squires Gate retail park in South Shore, Blackpool.
Inspector Steve Bell, of Fleetwood Police, said: “Between 11am and 1pm on October 31, this woman was in the Morrisons store and had placed her handbag on the handles on the back of the trolley.
“She is sure it was zipped, but when she came to the till her purse was missing.
“While she was shopping, she was approached by two different men at different times.
“Both asked her questions about products for sale in the store, they were basically trying to engage her in conversation. We urgently need to speak to the two men in the CCTV picture so they can assist us with our enquiries into this incident.
“The lady concerned was vulnerable and she is very upset.
“It is a disgraceful crime and whoever targeted this woman needs to be found.
“The money in this account was her life savings and police liaison are visiting her daily while she recovers.
“We are also helping her to recoup her money.”
