A patient accused of having a knife in an ambulance and threatening to stab a paramedic and a nurse has made his first appearance at court.
James Littler, a 55-year-old artist, of Carshalton Road, North Shore, is charged with possessing a knife in an ambulance on its way to Blackpool Victoria Hospital on Bonfire Night this year.
He is also alleged to have behaved in a threatening manner towards a paramedic, the court was told.
Pam Smith, prosecuting, asked for the case to be heard at crown court.
Defence lawyer, Sarah McIntyre, said her client had indicated he would plead not guilty to both offences.
Littler was bailed to appear at Preston Crown Court on March 6 by Blackpool magistrates.
