A PAINTER and decorator punched his neighbour in the mouth when he called to complain about noise.
Matthew Bain then menacingly told the neighbour: “If you call the police I will kill you.”
Bain, 26, of Pendle Court, Wesham pleaded guilty to assault.
He was ordered to do 40 hours’ unpaid work for the community, pay £50 compensation and £85 costs by Deputy District Judge Mike Fanning.
Pam Smith, prosecuting, said the victim was in his flat above the Swan public house, Poulton Street, Kirkham, in the evening of March 30 when he heard his neighbour banging about during a row with his partner.
The victim was working early the next day and knocked on Bain’s door to ask him to keep the noise down.
Bain punched him in the mouth knocking him down and then hit him again when he got up.
Leisa Splain, defending, said: “He accepts he over reacted. He says he punched the aggrieved once and then got hold of him to drag him back to his flat.”
