A CUSTOMER waiting to be served at a fast food restaurant reached over the counter and stole a bag of money.
Richard Cleaver was at McDonald’s on Bank Hey Street when he reached over and took a sack of change from alongside the till, containing £18 in cash.
The unemployed 31-year-old, of Caroline Street, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to theft when he appeared before the bench at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.
Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said Cleaver was caught outside the fast food restaurant at about 10pm on April 8 after attempting to flee the scene.
Allan Cobain, defending, said it was an opportunistic theft and that his client had kept out of trouble for 18 months.
The defendant was given a 12-month conditional discharge by Blackpool magistrates.
He was also ordered to pay £85 costs.
