A man was arrested after a driver fled a crash on the M55 motorway earlier this morning, police said.

The accident happened westbound between junction three for Kirkham and four for Marton at around 7.35am, when a "vehicle hit the central reservation".

The motorway was cleared by 7.55am, with officers "arranging recovery for the vehicle".

A spokesman for the road policing unit later said the driver had "fled the scene".

One man, found elsewhere, was arrested after allegedly failing a breath-test, he added.
