A man accused of having an obscene on-line chat with an under-age girl made his first appearance at court.

Michael Routliff is also alleged to have had a large number of indecent pictures of children, many at the most indecent level.

Routliff, 55, of Beaufort Avenue, Bispham, faces seven offences of either distributing, making or possessing indecent pictures of children and one offence of possessing extreme pornography.

The offences are alleged to have taken place between November 2013 and April last year.

Adrian Hollamby, prosecuting, asked for the case to be heard at crown court. Defence lawyer, Gary McAnulty, said his client would not indicate pleas to the offences at this stage.

Routliff was bailed to appear at Preston Crown Court on January 13 by Blackpool magistrates.
