A man accused or murdering a man found unconscious in a Blackpool alleyway has had the charges against him dropped.

Jack Tindall, 21, of Bedford Road, North Shore, has spent four and a half months on remand accused of the murder of 46-year-old James Whitelaw.

But at Preston Crown Court yesterday the prosecution dropped that charge against him, and Tindall admitted one charge of wounding Mr Whitelaw, three days before he was found slumped in an alleyway behind Regent Road.

Mr Whitelaw died five days later.

Tindall was released on bail and will be sentenced at the court on June 10.

A second man has been charged with murder and will appear at the crown court next month for a plea and case management hearing.
