Mum’s drug shame

Blackpool Magistrates Court

Blackpool Magistrates Court

A MOTHER was found with amphetamine when police searched her home.

Dawn Newton, of Elgin Place, Grange Park, admitted illegal drugs possession.

The 47-year-old was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 costs by Blackpool magistrates.

Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said police executed a drugs search warrant at Newton’s home on July 31.

Officers found 30 grams of amphetamine.

It was just three per cent pure.

Newton said she mixed the drug with glucose.

Suzanne Mugford, defending, said her client had no previous convictions.

She also said she had not used any drugs since the day of the offence.
