Man was drunk at courts

Blackpool Magistrates Court

Blackpool Magistrates Court

A man was arrested after causing a drunken nuisance at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Carl Grimes, 38, of Cookson Street, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly.

He was fined £50 with £50 costs and ordered to pay £15 victims’ surcharge by District Judge Duncan Birrell sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, said police officers waiting to give evidence at court heard Grimes being abusive to people in the public foyer on July 14 about 4pm. He then stood outside the court entrance door shouting and swearing. Police escorted him away, but he returned minutes later and carried on being abusive.

Patrick Nelligan,
defending, said his client admitted being drunk at the time, but Grimes felt he was targeted by police at times.
