A man who had been banned from contacting his former girlfriend threw a drink over her in front of her 12-year-old son.
Vincent O’Grady, who was also prohibited from visiting his ex’s home, went to her address and threw the drink during an argument.
O’Grady, 40, of Shaw Road, South Shore, admitted breaching a restraining order. He was sentenced to 16 weeks jail and had his restraining order extended to May next year by District Judge Peter Hollingworth sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.
The judge told him: “You have flagrantly disobeyed this order. This was disgraceful behaviour by you, throwing a drink at her, in the presence of a young child.”
Nicola Corney, prosecuting, said O’Grady’s ex said he arrived at her home and asked to use the loo on May 28. He then came into the living room where there was an argument in front of her son and he threw a drink at her.
Brett Chappell, defending, said O’Grady had been sent to prison for assaulting his partner and while in jail she visited him twice and wrote numerous letters. When he was released on March 3 he went straight to her home and had lived there until they argued on May 28.
Mr Chappell said O’Grady had previously been an alcoholic but got clean while he was in jail.
