Police have released CCTV images of two people they would like to speak after a 23-year-old man was viciously attacked on a night out in Blackpool.

The incident happened in May but officers have only now released the pictures.

Officers were called around 12.20am on May 7 to Blackpool Promenade following reports of an assault.

They found a 23-year-old man at the scene with serious facial injuries.

Detectives believe the victim had been attacked more than an hour earlier near West Street.

The offender made off from the scene, leaving the 23-year-old, from Blackburn, with serious facial injuries.

The victim had his jaw broken in four places and was treated on May 7 at Royal Blackburn Hospital.

Following investigation police would like to speak to a man and woman believed to be in the area at the time of the assault.

Det Con Rick Bartlett, of Blackpool CID, said: “We are appealing for information after a 23-year-old man from Blackburn sustained serious facial injuries following an assault in Blackpool.

“The victim had been with friends in Brannigans on Market Street and walked along West Street where he was attacked.

“We are appealing to the public for help in identifying the male and female pictured and would also like to identify any witnesses to the assault.

“Enquiries have suggested the attacker could be from the Blackburn area. If you recognise the people pictured, please contact us immediately.”
