This is the man police are hunting in connection with an incident where a shop assistant was punched in the face during a robbery.

An offender grabbed around £200 from the till at the Co-operative store on Central Drive, Blackpool, on Wednesday.

A man tried to stop him as he ran off but was punched and barged out of the way.

A female shop assistant who tried to close the till as the robber held it open was left “shaken” but unhurt, police said.

Det Con Emma Shuttleworth, of Blackpool CID, said: “At 6.50pm, he has walked into the Co-op and reached over the till, which was open, and snatched notes from inside.

“He grabbed the till and held it open while she has tried to shut it – but he has still managed to get the money out. The other shop assistant tried to stop him and was punched once to the face. “The offender has used his shoulder to knock him out of the way before he ran off towards Grasmere Road.”

The man is described aswhite, in his late 40s, of stocky build, clean shaven and with a shaved head.

Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting log 1151 of June 3.
