A man punched his stepfather and spat at him through a panel he had knocked out of his parents’ front door.
David Valentine had earlier appeared to be under the influence of something and lay on the floor at his grandmother’s home asking for a takeaway, a court heard.
Valentine, 22, of Broadwater Avenue, Fleetwood, pleaded guilty to assault and damage.
He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months, put on one year’s supervision and ordered to pay £30 compensation with £30 costs plus £80 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
Pam Smith, prosecuting, said Valentine returned to his grandparents house with blood on his hands on April 19 at around 8.15pm.
His parents were told he had kicked or punched two panels out of their front door.
Valentine’s stepfather boarded up the door and later heard banging and a panel was knocked through again.
Valentine punched his stepfather and spat in his face through the panel.
Gerry Coyle, defending, said his client, who had learning difficulties, felt rejected by his family apart from his grandmother.
One of his sisters was killed crossing the road last year when Valentine was with her, he added.
Since then Valentine had had problems coping, the court was told.
