A man held a knife to the neck of his girlfriend of 10 years and threatened to kill her.
Christopher Galvin only released her when her dog jumped up at him barking.
Galvin, 40, of Claremont Court, North Shore, admitted making a threat to kill his partner and threatening behaviour towards a policeman.
He was remanded to appear at Preston Crown Court for sentence on May 9 by Blackpool magistrates.
The court heard Galvin’s partner said he was a heavy drinker and had recently been diagnosed as a diabetic which he had struggled to cope with.
On the day of the offence Galvin has been to an appeals tribunal about his benefits.
He was taking three types of medication and drank on top of that.
