He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital following the incident, at around 2.45pm on Monday, where he remained yesterday.

Officers described the 24-year-old’s condition as ‘stable’. The driver was said to be ‘extremely shaken’. It is thought he was unhurt.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said several witnesses have now been spoken to and the driver is assisting officers with their enquiries.

However, police investigating the collision are encouraging anybody who saw the incident and has not yet come forward to get in touch with them as soon as possible.
