Man jailed for slashing woman’s throat

A MAN was today jailed for life for slashing a woman’s throat with a kitchen knife.

Martin Brown, 44, attacked the 41-year-old woman at a house in Victoria Road West in Cleveleys in July last year.

She suffered a serious wound to her throat.

The injured woman was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital where she received life-saving surgery.

Brown of Rear St George’s Lane, Cleveleys, was arrested and later charged with attempted murder.

He pleaded guilty to the offence on the first day of his trial at Preston Crown Court and has today appeared before the court again for sentencing.

Brown was sentenced to life imprisonment to serve a minimum of 9 years and 120 days in prison.
