Man in head chop threat to officer

Blackpool Magistrates Court

Blackpool Magistrates Court

A MAN kicked a policewoman on the thigh and threatened to cut off another officer’s head.

John McWilliam, 41, of Adelaide Street, central Blackpool, was found with a razor blade hidden in his shoe.

He admitted assault, threatening
behaviour, possessing a blade and being drunk and disorderly.

He was sentenced to 20 weeks imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, given a three month curfew from 8pm to 6am, put on a year’s court supervision and
ordered to pay £50 compensation and £85 costs by Blackpool magistrates.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said McWilliam argued with his former girlfriend on June 11. In the struggle to arrest him he kicked a policewoman on the leg. He also threatened to kill his pregnant ex.

When arrested he told a police officer: “I would rather cut off your head, than spit at you, it would be more fun.”

Suzanne Mugford, defending, said her client had mental health problems and suffered from a multiple personality disorder.
