A Blackpool man struck his sister and her partner after losing his temper.

Scott Tyhurst flung a glass coffee jar at his sister’s partner during an argument. His sister was hit on the head by the flying object.

He went on to injure her partner with a piece of the jar’s broken glass.

Tyhurst, 25, of Dinmore Avenue, Grange Park, pleaded guilty to offences of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault relating to the incident in July last year.

The defendant told police his sister’s partner allegedly provoked him.

Paul Humphries, defending, said: “He never intended to harm his sister.

“He is very sorry.”

Tyhurst was placed on 12 months’ supervision and was told to do 200 hours’ unpaid work.
