A man who punched a woman after being asked to move over in bed has escaped being sent to jail.
Lee Simpson, 34, of Hawthorn Road, North Shore, pleaded guilty to assault, two breaches of conditional discharge and failing to answer bail before magistrates.
He was sentenced to eight weeks jail suspended for 18 months, put on 12 months supervision with six months alcohol rehabilitation and ordered to pay £85 costs plus £80 victims’ surcharge by District Judge Pamela Baldwin sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.
He was also put on a 12 month restraining order which prohibits him from going to the victim’s address in the resort’s Clevedon Road.
The judge told Simpson: “ This was a very serious and nasty offence.”
