A man put his girlfriend in a headlock after an argument.
Gareth Mathias made his partner scrub the bath out with bleach and called her names.
I’ll make your life a misery. You don’t know who you’re messing with. I’ll burn your house down with you in it
Mathias, 31, formerly of the resort’s Browsholme Close, now living at Draycott Avenue, Grange Park, pleaded guilty to assault, making an offensive phone call and racially aggravated threatening behaviour.
Alison Quanbrough, prosecuting, said Mathias and his partner had a row over a bath on October 17 – and he made her clean it out with bleach. After this she called a friend to come and collect her.
Mathias pushed his partner on a bed and put his arm across her throat. He then put her in a headlock, before she managed to escape.
The following day Mathias rang her, saying “I’ll make your life a misery. You don’t know who you’re messing with. I’ll burn your house down with you in it.”
Mathias was then arrested and while in custody made race-hate remarks to a police sergeant of ethnic origins.
Brett Chappell, defending, told the judge: “His behaviour has no place in society and he apologises to all involved. The catalyst was he was drinking to excess.”
Mathias was warned he may be jailed by District Judge Pamela Baldwin sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court. He was bailed for pre-sentence reports.
