A man has been charged with attempted murder by police investigating an armed siege in Blackpool that lasted around five hours.

Marco Freeston, of Alexandra Road, South Shore, was arrested following the incident on Alexandra Road, South Shore, on Thursday.

The 43-year-old was charged with attempted murder and aggravated bodily harm.

Armed police were called to the street at 3.20pm on Thursday following reports a woman had been threatened with a crossbow.

Detectives said the incident was resolved “peacefully” around five hours later.
