A man smashed up electrical equipment belonging to his girlfriend after she complained about him banging around at midnight trying to make something to eat.

Daniel Rawcliffe, 40, of Rossett Avenue, Mereside, admitted causing £400 of damage to computer equipment and a TV.

He was bailed for pre-sentence reports by Blackpool magistrates.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said that on March 11 Rawcliffe’s girlfriend, who was 36 weeks pregnant, had a row with the defendant after he crashed about trying to make food after drinking.

Police removed Rawcliffe from the address, but he later returned to get his bank card.

When he could not find it he became angry and damaged the equipment.

Suzanne Mugford, defending, said Rawcliffe had paid for the damage he caused. Rawcliffe had been under stress at the time because he had been made redundant. The couple had now settled their differences.
