NINE days after leaving prison a man was in trouble with the law again when he went shoplifting.
Unemployed Anton Bennett, 31, of York Street, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to theft of 12 cans of deodorant valued at £29 from Wilkinsons. He was given a 12 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 costs by Blackpool magistrates.
Angus Craigen, prosecuting, said police identified Bennett from the shop’s CCTV footage. He later told officers he could not remember carrying out the theft and he had been on medication since leaving prison on December 12.
Suzanne Mugford, defending, said her client had mixed medication with alcohol at the time of the offence.
