A MAN was taken to hospital after a dog bit him as he stood outside a wine bar.

The 23-year-old man, from Thornton, needed treatment to his hand and fingers at Blackpool Victoria Hospital after he was bitten by a suspected rottweiler outside the Cube Cafe and Wine Bar in Poulton.

The dog was on a lead at the time, held by a woman who made no attempt to get the dog off the man.

Police want to talk to two people in connection with the incident, which happened at 1am on Friday, September 28.

Community beat manager for Thornton, PC Ian Hill, said: “This man suffered a nasty injury to his hand and it’s important that we find the owner of this dog to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again.”

Coun Peter Murphy, Wyre Council’s cabinet member for dog control, said the council was helping with the inquiry, and urged witnesses or anyone who knew anything about the incident, to contact police.

Lancashire Police only released the information about the attack yesterday.

Call police on 101 with any information.
