Police swooped on a South Shore home, seizing a stash of cannabis and arresting a man on suspicion of producing a controlled substance.

Officers entered the house on Balham Avenue shortly after 9am yesterday.

They seized around 60 cannabis plants from the address before forensics officers arrived at the scene.

Police were at the scene for most of the day and enquiries into the incident are still ongoing.

A 33-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of producing a controlled class B drug and was being questioned.

Det Sgt Nick Connaughton, from Blackpool Police, is involved in the investigation.

He said: “Around 60 plants were discovered at the address, as well as lighting and heating equipment.

“We have forensically examined the scene and our enquiries are ongoing.

“If anybody has any concerns about drugs in their community then I would urge them to contact police.”
