A man confessed he was disgusted with himself after he was arrested for assaulting his partner.

Christopher Leach, 33, returned home drunk from a karaoke night and lost his temper with his partner at their flat on Topping Street, Blackpool.

The town’s magistrates were told computer-technician Leach began shouting at his victim, slapped her face and pushed her to the floor.

Leach admitted assault and criminal damage to his victim’s mobile phone.

The court heard the woman managed to ring the police on her mobile before Leach smashed it and she fled to a nearby takeaway.

Leach admitted having anger problems. He was jailed for 18 weeks, suspended for 12 months. He was also placed on supervision for a year and ordered to pay £120 in costs.

Mugford, defending, said:”He accepts his behaviour that night was in his own words disgusting. However the couple are back together again and she does not want a restraining order against him.”

Leach was jailed for eighteen weeks suspended for 12 months.

He was also placed on supervision for a year.

He was further ordered to pay £120 in costs.
