A trainee builder attacked a man and his girlfriend on a Blackpool street.
Rory O’Connor called the woman rude names as she came out of a newsagents on May 1.
He then pushed her before kicking her boyfriend twice in the stomach.
O’Connor, 31, of Lynwood Avenue, Layton, denied both offences but was found guilty of both assaults after a trial in his absence.
He was put on 12 months supervision and ordered to pay £40 compensation with £50 costs and £60 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
O’Connor told police he acted in self-defence and pushed the other man away after he squared up to him aggressively.
Steven Townley, defending, said O’Connor continued to deny the offences.
