A fight broke out in Blackpool town centre yesterday lunchtime, leading to five arrests.
Police were called to Church Street, close to its junction with Corporation Street, at around 1.30pm, after reports a man had a knife.
Further reports were later received that a fight had broken out.
One eyewitness, who did not want to be named, said: “I just walked up because there was a massive crowd.
“All of the shopkeepers were outside as well.”
Five men were arrested shortly afterwards in Corporation Street, and were then questioned in police custody on suspicion of affray.
Two of the arrested men, aged 27 and 36, are from Blackpool while two, aged 18 and 19, are from Liverpool.
A 17-year-old youth, also from Liverpool, has also been questioned in relation to the incident.
A police spokesman said: “The initial report was of a man in possession of a knife, although he was not threatening anybody.
“We then had a report of a fight involving a number of men where a knife was seen.”
