A learner driver who almost crashed into another car was found at home drinking vodka and beer.
Patrick Glynn, 39, of Branstree Road, Marton, pleaded guilty to driving while unfit through drink, not in accordance with his provisional licence and having no insurance.
Glynn was banned from the road for 17 months and fined £220 with £85 costs by Blackpool magistrates.
Jane Yates, prosecuting, said police received information a man driving a BMW had been drinking in the Victory Hotel on April 29 at 7.30pm. Another witness then told police the BMW had almost crashed into another car on Branstree Road and the driver had gone into an address there. A breath test at his home showed Glynn had 82 micrograms of alcohol in his body - 35 is the limit.
Trevor Colebourne, defending, said his client had worked for the local authority, but had lost his job as a result of the offence.
