AN assistant pub landlord was found to be over the alcohol limit after police stopped him for driving without lights.

Craig Brogan, 31, of Park Road, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

He was banned from the road for 12 months, fined £360 with £85 costs and £36 victims’ surcharge by District Judge Huw Edwards sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said police saw Brogan driving a Mini Cooper on Blackpool’s Talbot Road without lights on December 14 at 4.20am. A blood test showed 101 millilitres of alcohol in his body – 80 is the limit.

Michael Ball, defending, said his client, who had no previous convictions, was an assistant publican who worked in Euxton.

The night of the offence Brogan had been out with work colleagues. He then made a mis-judgement in
believing he was OK to drive.
