A man bravely stood up to three thugs who tried to rob him at knife-point as he sat in his van.
The victim, 41, was at the traffic lights at the junction of Caunce Street and Grosvenor Street, in Blackpool town centre, when the trio struck.
Three male offenders approached him and attempted to rob him at knife-point
Detectives say the men demanded his mobile phone, cash and van during the failed hijacking at around 9pm on Tuesday.
But they left empty-handed when the victim, who was in a Ford Transit Connect van, refused to comply with their demands.
Det Sgt Rik Irving, of Blackpool CID, said: “Three male offenders approached him and attempted to rob him at knife-point.
“They threatened him and demanded his cash, mobile phone and vehicle – but he refused.”
After the victim gave a description of the offenders to detectives, police arrested three men who were yesterday in custody.
The man was left ‘shaken but unhurt’ by the ordeal, Det Sgt Irving added. Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward. Call 101 with information.
