A man accused of running at another man with a knife in a Blackpool street has made his first appearance before a magistrates’ court.

David McNeill, 38, of Queen Street, Blackpool, is charged with possessing a penknife as an offensive weapon in The Strand and behaving in a threatening manner.

The incident is alleged to have happened on April 20.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, asked for the case to be heard before a crown court.

Defence lawyer, Steven Townley, defending, said his client would not indicate pleas to the offences at this stage.

McNeill was bailed to appear at Preston Crown Court on June 3 by District Judge Rod Ross sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.
