A COMMANDO style knife and drugs were found in a man’s bag when he was stopped and searched on a Blackpool street.
Alfred Walsh, 43, of Deepdale Road, Mereside, admitted possessing a knife in public, possessing cannabis and breaching a conditional discharge imposed six weeks ago for having a knife in public.
Martine Connah, prosecuting, said police stopped Walsh on Topping Street, Blackpool, and searched him at 12.20am on March 9.
Walsh was on his way to his sister’s home to help her cut a carpet.
Trevor Colebourne, defending, said officers had found the knife at the bottom of a bag Walsh was carrying and there was no suggestion he had taken it out or brandished it.
He was sentenced to eight weeks imprisonment suspended for 12 months, one year’s supervision, and ordered to pay £80 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
