A man on a drink banning order walked down the middle of the road swinging a Christmas tree from side-to-side.

Drunken, Luke Vaughan, refused to go into his home when asked to by police and called a woman officer a rude name.

Vaughan, 24, of Beckwith Avenue, Layton, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly.

He was fined £50 with £30 costs plus £20 victims’ surcharge by District Judge Jim Clarke sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

When the judge told Vaughan: “It has been an expensive binge,” the defendant started laughing loudly. The judge warned him: “That’s not meant to be funny.”

Vaughan told the judge he was working with his probation officer over his alcohol abuse.
