Halloween turned into a nightmare for a woman when her boyfriend objected to her going to a party alone and threw her costume out.

Arron Jessop then picked his girlfriend up in his arms when she went to retrieve her costume, placed her inside on the floor and put his hand over her mouth.

Putting his hand over her mouth was a stupid thing to do

Jessop, 27, of Kirkham Avenue, Marton, pleaded guilty to assault.

He was sentenced to nine weeks’ prison suspended for 12 months, with up to 25 days’ rehabilitation to be supervised by the Probation Service and was ordered to pay £50 compensation with £85 costs plus £80 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Stephen Duffy, defending, said: “He became upset and jealous about her going to the party alone. Putting his hand over her mouth was a stupid thing to do.”
