A FOOD thief who repeatedly eats for free was hauled back before the courts after being caught mid-meal.
Alan Brown has clocked up more than 200 offences, repeatedly ordering food and drink and then failing to pay.
And this week he was jailed for 21 days by magistrates in Blackpool after refusing to foot a £24.60 bill in Blackpool’s Pizza Hut.
The court heard the 52-year-old, of no fixed address, was caught after the waitress recognised his picture from a newspaper report.
But when he was confronted, Brown said: “You have set me up by serving me.”
Defending, Stephen Duffy said his client was trapped in a vicious circle of going to prison, coming out, having no money and then failing to pay for meals.
At Blackpool Magistrates’ Court he was jailed after pleading guilty to dishonestly obtaining food and drink, and was in breach of a suspended prison sentence for a similar offence.
