Police are hunting for a teenager after his puppy had to be put down when he failed to get treatment for its two broken hips.

Jamie Andrew should have appeared for the second time to be sentenced at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court, but he failed to turn up for the hearing.

Magistrates issued a warrant without bail for his arrest.

Andrew, 19, of Brun Grove, Marton, Blackpool, was found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to an Akita puppy after a trial in his absence.

Andrew said previously he did not know how the injuries happened and he thought if he left it the puppy might get better.
