Hunt for arsonist after closed social club fire
Firefighters were quick to act after a pile of paper was set alight inside the closed Co-op Sports and Social Club, in Preston New Road, Blackpool, yesterday evening.
Crews from Blackpool and South Shore stations were called to the club, which closed in 2013 due to financial troubles, at around 6.35pm.
They ‘quickly’ put out the flames, a spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said in a brief statement.
The blaze has now been reported to police, who are understood to be hunting those responsible.
The extent of the damage is not yet known.
Nobody is believed to have been hurt.
