A HOTEL burglar has walked free from court, Steven Brown was identified after his face appeared on a police crime prevention poster warning hotels of his activities.

He was caught in a room at the Hackett Hotel in Blackpool.

Brown, 33, of Kingston Avenue, South Shore, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to a burglary with intent to steal.

Preston Crown Court heard a man, who was taking a break in Blackpool, returned to his hotel room to find Brown inside. The defendant had a purse with him, but handed it over when confronted.

The victim identified Brown from a poster in the reception area warning people to be alert regarding six men, all thought to be involved in offences on such premises.

Brown was given 30 weeks jail, suspended for two years, with two years supervision.

He was given a two-year ASBO, banning him from entering hotels or guest houses in the resort, except with the written consent of the hotelier or guest house manager.

Judge Christopher Cornwall told Brown: “It’s time you took hold of your life, got a grip.”
