A police helicopter was in the sky over Blackpool’s Stanley Park in the early hours of this morning as officers were searching for two would-be thieves.
The two men, who have not been caught, were disturbed by the occupier of a house on Beechfield Avenue after taking a lead drainpipe from the roof of the property at 3.30am.
The lead was left in the front garden after the offenders fled and police began a search of the area, assisted by the helicopter crew from Warton.
The men are described as both being in their late teens or early twenties and of medium height.
Police also received a similar call after thieves tried to take a lead drainpipe from the roof of a home on nearby West Park Drive at 3.25am.
Again, two men were disturbed by the occupant after causing around £500 of damage.
Police said they are investigating both incidents and looking into the possibility they could be linked.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Lancashire Police on 101.
