An inquest into the death of a toddler who lost her life after a suspected heart attack has been opened and adjourned.

Sophie Jones was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital on March 5 this year.

The two-year-old, of Jameson Street, Blackpool, tragically lost her life. Two people have been arrested and charged in relation to her death.

Coroners court proceedings were opened on Wednesday.

Blackpool and Fylde coroner Alan Wilson said: “A formal opening of the inquest is now required.”

But the inquest has now been adjourned pending the outcome of the criminal investigation and court case.

The case is likely to be reviewed in December.
