HAIR salons have been warned to be on their guard after thieves targeted two shops in just one night.
Hair dryers were stolen after thieves smashed their way into Bispham’s Mirror Talk, while burglars also attempted to burgle nearby Salon K.
The raids come just weeks after the nearby Kathian’s salon was ransacked by thieves – and now other salons are being warned to keep high value products out of sight.
Donna Heap, receptionist at Mirror Talk, on Knowle Avenue, said: “We were broken into on Wednesday night and another salon nearby was broken into as well, so there is obviously a spate going on.
“The thieves smashed a window but luckily, because we are alarmed, we think it put them off.
“They have stolen two GHD hair dryers, and unfortunately they were charity ones for breast cancer.
“We just want to warn other businesses that there seems to be a problem at the moment.”
At Salon K, on Holmfield Road, thieves also smashed windows – but failed to gain access to the shop thanks to reinforced glass.
Owner Kay Grant said: “They smashed the window in two places and cracked the glass, but because we’ve got silicone in the glass it saved us and they couldn’t get through.
“We are the third shop to be targeted and it makes me worry, I’ve not really slept thinking about whether they are going to try to come back.
“It’s frightening and everybody needs to be on the look out and make sure they take stock out of the shop.”
The police confirmed the break-in at Mirror Talk happened sometime between 6pm on Wednesday and 5am on Thursday, after a stone was thrown at the window and thieves managed to force a larger hole in the glass.
The attempted break-in at Salon K was reported to officer at lunchtime on Thursday.
Police are now investigating both incidents.
