A twelve-year-old Blackpool vandal has agreed to paint a local park to cover up graffiti he daubed.

Police officers caught the youngster carrying out the act at Gorton Street park last week.

After officers spoke to him and his mother, he agreed to paint over it as part of the police resolution scheme, which is a way of offenders paying their community back for what they have done.

PCSO Mike Sewell said: “The police resolution scheme is a great way of getting people to realise what impact their actions have had.

“This 12 year old realises what he’s done is wrong and agreed to make up for it, with the support of his mum.

“I’m hopeful that by us working with this youngster it has made him change his ways and will prevent him getting into more trouble in the future.”

The graffiti included personal details about another youngster and the offender has also agreed to write an apology to the victim.

The boy will paint over the graffiti this week.
