POLICE are hunting a vicious robber who held up a shop worker in a terrifying raid.
The masked knifeman locked the door to Naze Lane Stores, Freckleton, and ordered the staff member to empty the till and hand over cigarettes.
He fled the store with just £120 after the male worker gave him the till tray but refused to hand over any of the shop’s cigarettes.
Det Con Matthew Haylett, from Blackpool CID, told The Gazette: “This was a terrifying incident for the male member of staff on duty, particularly as the offender locked the door and threatened to stab him.
“He said he was going to cut his throat.
“The staff member handed over the money and the offender left once he refused to give him anything else.
“Fortunately nobody was hurt and there were no customers in the shop at the time.”
The incident unfolded in the Naze Lane shop just before 8pm on Thursday and police have now released CCTV images of the robber in the hope someone can identify him. It is not clear what mask the raider was wearing but Det Con Haylett hopes someone will recognise his distinctive jacket.
He added: “I would urge people to take a close look at these images and if anyone has any information about the possible identity of this man I’d urge them to come forward.
“The CCTV image shows a large emblem on the rear of the man’s jacket which could be significant.
“I’d reassure people that an investigation is underway and anyone with any information should call Lancashire Police.”
Any witnesses are asked to get in touch with the police on 101.
