A Fylde magistrate has been removed from the bench after making a report to police which was “false to a significant degree”, according to the Office for Judicial Complaints.
A conduct panel for the office found Elayne Bryan, from the Fylde coast bench, had “acted inappropriately” and should be removed from office.
A spokesperson for the Office for Judicial Complaints said: “Mrs Elayne Bryan, a magistrate appointed to the Flyde Coast Bench was subject to an investigation by a Conduct Panel.
“The Panel found that Mrs Bryan had made a report to the police and subsequently signed a written statement which was false to a significant degree.
“In so doing, the Panel found that Mrs Bryan had acted inappropriately and recommended removal from office.
“The Lord Chancellor and Lord Chief Justice agreed with the recommendation and have removed Mrs Bryan from the Magistracy.”
