A prisoner on the run is wanted by police in connection with a terrifying raid at a Blackpool travel agents.
Lyndon Stein, previously of St Helens, is believed to be connected to the robbery, where thieves made shaken staff at Thomson Travel Shop on Birley Street believe they had weapons.
Police say he could still be in Blackpool, and warn he should not be approached.
During Saturday’s raid, thieves made off with thousands of pounds. They demanded money from staff at around 4.30pm, and are believed to have ran off towards Corporation Street.
Police say Stein, 49, was sentenced to life imprisonment in February 2006 for numerous robbery offences.
He absconded from HMP Springhill on April 29 this year, and is now wanted for similar offences by police across the UK. Insp Gareth Willis from Lancashire Constabulary said: “We’d urge anybody that thinks they have seen Lyndon Stein or knows of his current whereabouts to contact Lancashire Police on 101.
“It is possible he could still be in Blackpool but he should not be approached and anybody that sees him should call police immediately on 999.”
The first man was described as being of large build and aged in his mid 40s. He has a bald head and was wearing a blue Asics sweatshirt and black tracksuit bottoms. The second man was described as being older that the first and was wearing a light coloured jumper, and a black baseball cap. On the run prisoner was serving lengthy term
Stein absconded from HMP Springhill, an open prison in Aylesbury, while serving a lengthy jail term for a robbery committed in Bristol in 2006.
Its believed the prisoner has carried out a string of robberies while on the run.
Police say Stein has robbed travel agents and building societies in Avon and Somerset, Gloucestershire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Oxford.
He is described as white, stocky and normally carries a plastic carrier bag when committing offences.
